Do I need to bring a partner?

No you don’t! That’s one of the awesome things about line dancing… a partner is not needed. Each person dances alone, yet performs moves in sync with the group.  Actually, line dancing is a great option for people who are single. That said, partners are always welcome. Everyone is welcome!

Comfortable, supportive footwear is recommended. Sneakers are fine. Wearing sandals, crocks or any type of footwear that you can easily slip out of is discouraged.

In general, wear comfortable, breathable moisture wicking clothing. Athletic wear is fine. During warm weather, sleeveless or short-sleeved shirts, shorts, skorts and/or leggings are appropriate. In cooler temperatures, wearing layers that can easily be removed as you get warmed up in class is recommended.

You should do fine! Dancing is as easy as walking once you are taught the steps.  Diane is currently teaching beginner level classes. No line dance experience is required to participate.

Your rate of learning depends on several factors, such as your dance experience, aptitude and practice commitment. People learn at different rates. You can grasp the basic fundamentals of line dancing in just a few classes with regular class attendance and practice. It may take a few months to feel comfortable line dancing in a social setting.

No, as long as you feel that you can move comfortably and you have no doctor’s restrictions, there is no age limit.

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

Soul Line dancing is similar to County Western in that students dance in lines to coordinated steps, but with individualized styling. The biggest difference between the two dance styles is the music genre. Soul Line Dances utilize r&b, Motown, smooth jazz, gospel, Zydeco, hip-hop,contemporary pop and southern soul music. The footwork also differs between the two dance styles, but there are some similarities. Soul Line Dancing fosters a strong sense of community among its participants through fellowship, dance tee shirts, dance themed parties and line dance event trips among other things.
